It is clear that most golfers would like to increase their club head speed. The purpose of this article is to explain some speed exercises that will help increase a golfers swing speed. However, it's important to take into consideration the equation below:
Power = Force x Velocity
This means that to hit the ball far, a golfer needs a good amount of force to go along with the speed. However, that can be touched upon in another article! If we look at the definition of Velocity we see that it is speed in a given direction, which is the amount of displacement over time.
Velocity = Displacement / Time
If we think golf for a second, assuming a golfer hits the same shot with the wind blowing with the golfer at 20 mph verses 10 mph. Which one will go further?
20 mph of course! Therefore, if we can increase velocity we will be able to increase our power production. Below is a list of exercises that will help increase speed:
Lower Body: Sprint Progression
Trunk/Rotary: Rip Cord Push-Press
Chop/Lift: Over Head Badminton Serve/Backhand Badminton Shot
